Psychotherapy

WHERE COMPASSION MEETS EFFECTIVE TREATMENT

Services provided: I offer psychotherapy via telehealth to adults struggling with:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Trauma

  • Grief

  • Major life changes

  • Relationship stress

  • Burnout and stress at work/school

  • Feeling emotionally unstable

  • Making important life decisions

  • Moving past areas where they feel stuck

  • and many other issues are welcome here

Therapeutic Process: My therapeutic approach is an eclectic blend of cognitive behavior therapies and modern psychodynamic therapy. This means that I use a variety of techniques to help clients address their unique needs best. We may look at thoughts and behaviors that are affecting your well-being so you can manage stress in practical, direct ways. I also support a deeper exploration of past experiences or patterns that may be shaping how you think, feel, and relate to others today. The approach is designed to help you find relief and the ability to cope with everyday life and at the same time, create meaningful, lasting change in your relationship with yourself and others. In the end, the work is guided by what matters most to you and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy.

Specialized Services: A small but important part of my practice is dedicated to individuals diagnosed with Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorders, or Bipolar Disorder. Psychotherapy can offer a crucial complement to pharmacological treatment to support your recovery. I can work in coordination with medication providers and support systems for a high standard of comprehensive mental health care.

I am also uniquely specialized in Dialectical-Behavior Therapy (DBT). I support individuals currently engaged in DBT Skills Groups or those who have benefitted from such approaches in the past. I also provide sessions to review and practice DBT distress tolerance and emotion regulation skills.

ADHD Evaluation

UNDERSTAND WHAT’S GETTING IN YOUR WAY AND WHAT TO DO NEXT

I help adults who are feeling overwhelmed at work or school because of difficulties with focus, organization, or time management. I conduct ADHD evaluations via telehealth to assist in addressing these issues. These assessments are designed to conclude with an accurate diagnosis and clear, practical recommendations. The process typically includes a clinical interview, several standardized psychological tests, and a review of requested records.

NEARLY 20 YEARS OF CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

DR. IVY GRACE DURANT (she/her)

I am a New Jersey licensed clinical psychologist offering virtual psychotherapy and assessment to adults on an individual basis. My clients typically describe me as warm, kind, and patient. I strive to create a space where people can be fully themselves - struggling, feeling uncertain, making mistakes - and know that I will meet this with understanding, respect, and without judgment. I come to this work with the belief that knowing ourselves is valuable and transformative, and I genuinely believe all us have the capacity to grow, adapt, and heal.

My clinical work began in 2007, providing case management and therapeutic services for people with substance use problems. I loved the work and ultimately pursued and obtained my Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D.) in 2014 from Nova Southeastern University. Over the next 10+ years, I worked for the State of New Jersey, providing therapy for people with trauma and complex emotional issues, completing a range of psychological assessments, and training doctoral interns. I am currently focused full-time on my private work with Renewed Path, LLC. I am based in Lambertville, New Jersey, and practice virtually in 40+ US states and territories via PSYPACT.

People are wonderfully diverse, and our backgrounds are highly relevant to our mental health, how symptoms present, and how we may respond to treatment. I am deeply committed to care that is inclusive and responsive to clients of various backgrounds, identities, and experiences, including LGBTQIA+ individuals. I continue to learn and unlearn so that my work remains grounded in cultural humility, respect, and equity. I welcome all conversations relevant to what makes you uniquely you. You are welcome here.

Personally, I love yoga, social dancing, biking along the Delaware River, reading fiction, and my sweet dog, Maurice, who typically sleeps under my desk during virtual sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Before we meet for our first session, we’ll schedule a phone call to talk about what your needs are and how I might be able to help you. This will be at no cost to you. You’ll be able to get a sense of what I am like, and we can discuss any questions and concerns you may have.

  • Before you even arrive for your first session, I will ask you to complete several forms including some asking you to provide background information about yourself. Our first couple sessions will be an opportunity for me to get to know you and understand your needs. We will talk about the reasons you are coming for therapy. I’ll ask you questions about your history and background, strengths, symptoms, and any past events that might contribute to those symptoms. We will collaboratively develop several goals for our time together, and I will discuss what you can expect from treatment with me. Please know that you always have the right to only share as much as you want. My therapeutic approach will be individualized to address the reasons you came for treatment in the first place. So, therapy will look different for different clients. My aim in all sessions including the first one is also to create a space where you feel comfortable, safe, and empowered.

  • There is always a first time for everything in life, and I am grateful that you are considering therapy with me. If you’re feeling a bit unsure or nervous, that’s a normal feeling before you do something new. Therapy is a collaboratively process, and it’s not supposed to be mysterious. Ask me anything!

  • Yes, it absolutely can. So many people have found relief from psychotherapy. I provide services that are evidence-based and empirically-validated. Our work will be based on practices that are well-studied and have worked well for my patients over the years. The benefit you get from these services will ultimately depend on the heart and time you put into the work as well, and I am here to compassionately support you in that work.

  • Our telehealth sessions will take place on a HIPAA compliant, secure platform. You will be able to make or change your appointment on my online portal. You will receive a link for your session via email. Click the link and join me. All sessions will be over video.

  • A 55-minute therapy session fee is $215 which you pay online before the session. I am able to generate a detailed receipt, called a superbill, to submit to your health insurance for possible reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider for out-of-network coverage.

Currently, I do not bill insurance directly.

Fees for psychological testing will depend on the services required, and a quote will be generated in advance of services.

  • Request a phone call with me using the link on this page. When we talk, we will discuss your needs and what I am able to provide, and I will answer any questions you may have.
